SUPPLY CHAIN OPPORTUNITIES PRESENTED TO LOCAL COMPANIES

ENGINEERING, CONSTRUCTION, MANUFACTURING, ELECTRONICS, AND ICT THE SECTORS CONCERNED, AS WELL AS ANCILLARY COMPANIES FOR THE SUPPLY OF GOODS AND SERVICES

The investment to build the two floating marine wind farms off the Apulian coast, Kailia Energia and Odra Energia, will amount to around EUR 7.5 billion. This will be a development opportunity for Apulia’s engineering, construction, manufacturing, electronics, and ICT industries, as well as for all related companies that will be able to supply goods and services. This is the opportunity that lies ahead for Puglia for the two projects promoted by Renantis (formerly Falck Renewables) and BlueFloat Energy, equal partners in the joint venture that is promoting the construction of floating marine wind farms in Puglia, Calabria and Sardinia.

Over sixty entrepreneurs from companies associated with the territorial representations of Confindustria Puglia took part in the workshop ‘Floating marine wind farms, opportunities for the local supply chain‘, hosted at the headquarters of Confindustria Brindisi. Discussions were held on the opportunities for specialisation and qualification criteria for the companies that will be involved in the construction and maintenance phases of the offshore wind projects, as well as the supply of materials and services for which the companies in the supply chain will be involved as a priority. Specifically, the construction of offshore wind farms requires not only floating platforms and turbines, but also mooring and anchoring systems, cabling and connections, and electrical substations.

“This first session with entrepreneurs is a further strategic step and a precise commitment to define the contribution to the growth of the local production chain,” said Kseniia Balanda, Technical Director of Kailia Energia and Odra Energia. “We want to enhance Apulia’s companies and infrastructures, also basing on the experience we have in the onshore and offshore sectors in Italy and abroad. We have made a commitment to update ourselves in the coming months on the development of the project procedures.”

“It was an important opportunity to present the business opportunities arising from the investment of Renantis and BlueFloat Energy to local companies. The initiative represented a further sign of how the Apulian territory, and the Brindisi area specifically, are once again becoming attractive to large investors as part of the ecological transition process that has been underway for several years now”, explained Confindustria Brindisi President, Gabriele Menotti Lippolis.

The representatives of the proposing companies highlighted the spin-offs on the regional system, from the on-site construction of the floating platforms to the effects on the reconversion and specialisation of ports resulting from projects of this type, both for production and related marine activities and services.

On the employment side, each project will provide an estimated 1,500 direct jobs during the manufacturing, assembly and construction phases of the plants, with peaks of up to 4,000 during peak periods. There will be more than 300 permanent maintenance positions for 30 years after the two plants come into operation.

Important figures for the economy add up to energy production: the two projects are expected to have a maximum installed capacity of around 2.5 GW for an expected production of 7.5 TWh/year, equivalent to the consumption of around two million households.

Ammonterà a circa 7,5 miliardi di euro l’investimento per realizzare i due parchi eolici marini galleggianti al largo delle coste pugliesi, Kailia Energia e Odra Energia. Un’occasione di sviluppo per l’industria pugliese metalmeccanica, delle costruzioni, manifatturiera, elettronica, dell’ICT​, oltre a tutte le imprese dell’indotto che potranno fornire beni e servizi. È questa l’occasione che si prospetta per la Puglia per i due progetti promossi da Renantis (già Falck Renewables) e BlueFloat Energy, partner paritetici della joint venture che sta promuovendo la realizzazione di parchi eolici marini galleggiante in Puglia, in Calabria e in Sardegna.

Oltre sessanta gli imprenditori di aziende associate alle rappresentanze territoriali di Confindustria Puglia che hanno partecipato al workshop ‘Eolico marino galleggiante, le opportunità per la supply chain locale’, ospitati nella sede di Confindustria Brindisi. Si è parlato delle opportunità di specializzazione e criteri di qualificazione per le aziende che saranno coinvolte nelle fasi di realizzazione e manutenzione dei parchi marini oltre che della fornitura di materiali e servizi per cui saranno coinvolte in via prioritaria le aziende dell’indotto. Nello specifico, la costruzione dei parchi eolici marini richiede, oltre alle piattaforme galleggianti e alle turbine, anche sistemi di ormeggio e ancoraggio, di cablaggio e collegamento e sottostazioni elettriche. ​

“Questo primo confronto con gli imprenditori è un ulteriore tassello strategico e un impegno preciso per definire il contributo alla crescita della filiera produttiva locale – ha detto Kseniia Balanda, direttore tecnico di Kailia Energia e Odra Energia – Vogliamo valorizzare le imprese e le infrastrutture presenti in Puglia, forti anche dell’esperienza che abbiamo nei comparti onshore e offshore in Italia e all’estero. Abbiamo preso l’impegno di riaggiornarci nei prossimi mesi sugli sviluppi degli iter progettuali”.

“È stata – ha spiegato il presidente di Confindustria Brindisi Gabriele Menotti Lippolis –un’importante occasione per presentare alle aziende locali le opportunità di business derivanti dall’investimento di Renantis e BlueFloat Energy. L’iniziativa ha rappresentato un ulteriore segnale di come il territorio pugliese, e quello brindisino in particolare, stiano tornando ad essere attrattivi per i grandi investitori nell’ambito del processo di transizione ecologica avviato da diversi anni”.

I rappresentanti delle società proponenti hanno messo in evidenza le ricadute sul sistema regionale, dalla realizzazione in loco delle piattaforme galleggianti agli effetti sulla riconversione e specializzazione dei porti derivanti da progetti di questo tipo, sia per la produzione che per le attività marine collegate e i servizi dell’indotto.

Sul fronte occupazionale, inoltre, ogni parco prevede 1.500 impieghi diretti stimati durante le fasi di fabbricazione, assemblaggio e costruzione del parco, con picchi fino a 4.000 nei periodi di massima necessità. Saranno oltre 300 i posti fissi per 30 anni per la manutenzione, dopo l’entrata in esercizio dei due parchi.

Dati importanti per l’economia, che si sommano a quelli della produzione di energia: per i due parchi è prevista una capacità massima installata di circa 2,5 GW per una produzione attesa di 7,5 TWh/anno, equivalente al consumo di circa due milioni di utenze domestiche.
