PRESS RELEASE
Ecological Transition and the B.A.N.A.N.A Syndrome
Falck Renewables in Catania for
“Ecomed – Progettocomfort la Green Expo del Mediterraneo”
Milan, Italy, 5 April 2022 – Tackling the issue of B.A.N.A.N.A. Syndrome where people oppose any new construction projects in their area will be the topic for a Falck Renewables sponsored workshop at “Ecomed – Progettocomfort la Green Expo del Mediterraneo”. The expo is due to take place from 6 to 8 April at the “Le Ciminiere” Trade Fair Centre in Catania, Sicily, Italy.
Falck Renewables will be present with a stand to raise awareness of its investments in the construction of renewable energy plants in Sicily and the positive impact of its activities on local communities. It’s on this basis Falck Renewables has promoted the organisation of the workshop entitled “The Ecological Transition and the B.A.N.A.N.A. Syndrome – Strategies for better social acceptability of RES projects”.
The workshop will address the challenge of B.A.N.A.N.A.(Build Absolutely Nothing Anywhere Near Anything) syndrome, where there is increasingly automatic opposition to the construction of works in an area, with particular emphasis on renewable plant projects. The speakers will discuss possible approaches to counteract this syndrome and promote the social acceptability of the projects by the communities hosting them.
Particular attention will be paid to renewable energy communities as a means of supporting the use of renewable energy while, at the same time, contributing to the fight against energy poverty by reducing consumption and lowering tariffs.
