MILAN, Italy, 22 April 2020 – Falck Renewables S.p.A. announces an international supporting program to alleviate the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic with targeted actions in the local communities and territories where it operates.


 The program – for a total value of € 720 thousand – will help local communities around Falck Renewables wind & solar plants in UK, Italy, France, Spain, and the US where the epidemic is creating relevant health & social consequences.


In the UK, the company will make a donation to the community benefit trusts connected to each one of its 12 wind farms, located in Scotland, England, and Wales. Details are available at Falck Renewables Sustainable Community web site (http://community.falckrenewables.eu/).


In Italy, the support is oriented to assist 9 municipalities around 8 Falck Renewables’ assets in Sardinia, Apulia, Calabria, and Sicily. Funds will be used mainly to locally support the Civil Protection, social services, hospitals & emergency services, and contribute to the “Food Bank for Families” initiative.


Falck Renewables also supports two researches on Covid-19 therapeutic solutions carried out by the University of Milan.


In France, the contribution will be addressed to the 15 municipalities where Falck Renewables operates its 9 wind farms, located in the Bretagne, Centre-Val de Loire, Grand-Est, Hauts-de-France, Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Pays de la Loire regions. The funds will contribute to the on-going actions implemented by the municipalities and aiming at supporting local population and economy and containing the spread of the virus.


In Spain, Falck Renewables is committed to support the municipalities around its two wind farms, in Castilla y León and in Aragón regions. In particular, the assistance will be addressed to protect the most vulnerable groups by supporting the purchase of sanitary equipment.


In the US, Falck Renewables will provide a support package for the people living around its solar plants in Massachusetts and North Carolina, financing a food home delivery service to elderly people during the emergency.

The initiative to support local communities in the undergoing Covid-19 emergency is fully consistent with Falck Renewables approach to create shared value with the communities living around the company’s plants, considering its presence in an area a sustainable development factor for both the communities and the businesses operating around the renewable assets.


Since the initial phases of the Covid-19 emergency, Falck Renewables, together with Falck S.p.A. and Fondazione Falck have supported local organizations and entities in the Lombardy region (Italy), that has been mostly impacted by the epidemic. The overall amount donated with all the initiatives of Falck Renewables, Falck S.p.A, and Fondazione Falck as of today, sums up to € 1,2 million.
